NEW WORK
An artist led program developing new socially conscious work
Darlo is commissioning and developing new work that directly aligns with our programming mandate: socially conscious work that aims to connect audiences and challenge the way they move through the world.
At its heart, our New Work program is artist led. It embraces all that theatrical form can be, and acknowledges that theatre is a platform for sharing experiences and perspectives on the world; a tool for compassion and expansion.
Our New Work Development programs are the new Bellwether Residency and our annual Next In Line playwriting development program. Learn more below.
Submissions for our inaugural Bellwether Residency are now open and close 10am Monday 10 July.

Next In Line: Works in Development
DTC is thrilled to be working with the following talented writers on their new projects.
Factory by Christopher Bryant
This new work is a play designed for disabled performers; a reworking of (the very ableist) Marat/Sade using Chris's own experiences of disability and queerness as a launchpad. Its development is directed by Amy Sole.
Loving Us by Phoebe Grainer
Phoebe Grainer’s new work, titled Loving Us, is an investigation and celebration of Blak love, sexuality, dating, friendship and sex. Amy Sole collaborates as dramaturg.
No Pink Dicks by Moreblessing Maturure
No Pink Dicks by Moreblessing Maturure is an incisive look at intercultural relationships from a Black female perspective and stages the murky chasm in which political and personal lives intersect. No Pink Dicks is dramaturgically led by Zindzi Okenyo.
No Pink Dicks has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
