Kawai Session: Un Solo Passo

Darlinghurst Theatre Company and Kawai

Meeting in July 2017 at the Atlantic Music Festival (Maine, USA), Horvatic and Rumsey formed a powerhouse piano duo and have since performed in Spain and across Switzerland together. Both sharing a love of chamber music, their performances are characteristic of their friendship, musical unity, and pianistic skill.

Horvatic will present a number of well-known and revered solo items, and will be joined periodically by duo-partner Rumsey for some familiar piano duets. The program will feature a stunning mix of popular classical gems and never-before-heard morsels. Relish in the intimacy of Ravel, the pathos of Bach-Busoni, the virtuosity of Liszt, the nostalgia of Bersa and the infectious energy of Coyle in this ONE NIGHT ONLY concert.

The concert will present a sumptuously wide palette of pianistic tone colours and soundscapes, featuring a hand-crafted 9ft concert grand piano – the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX, the crown jewel of Kawai’s range and the pinnacle of today’s modern piano.

A note from Kawai's Warrick Baker

We share a passion for cultivating the arts in our own backyard, from young kids at home to world-class live performances – like the ones you’ll see as part of the Kawai Sessions. We hope you enjoy the show!
