1993

Darlo Drama is founded.

1996 

Darlinghurst Theatre Company incorporates.

1999 

Milk Crate Theatre is founded. Visit the Milk Crate website.

A hailstorm destroys the Wayside Theatre's roof and we must move.

2001 

South Sydney Council supports our move to a community hall in Potts Point.

Arts NSW supports the company for the first time and continues to for the next 10 years.

The inaugural show at the Darlinghurst, THE WOOLGATHERER features Marta Dusseldorp and Alan Flower. 

The second show, THE DOG LOGS, is a huge success and tours nationally. 

 

2003 

MERCY THIEVES, a new play by Mark Kilmurry and first staged by Darlinghurst Theatre Company, is published by Currency Press.  

LITTLE BLACK BASTARD by Noel Tovey is staged and picked up by Belvoir Street Theatre. It also tours nationally.  

BANGERS & MASH (pictured) is a hit and tours. It wins awards at Edinburgh Fringe and Philadelphia Festiva

2005 

ONE MORE THAN ONE (pictured) is first staged and then wins awards at the Melbourne and Brisbane fringe festivals.

International film star William H Macy gives a master class for young performers.


 

 

THE NO CHANCE IN HELL HOTEL is first staged and tours regional NSW.

2006 

HUMAN RESOURCES (pictured) by Australian writer Chris Aronsten is nominated for a NSW premier literary award.

Jeremy Sims directs BRILLIANT MONKEY (pictured).


 

 

Virginia Gay, who featured in THE ROOD SCREEN (pictured), successfully auditions for a major role in ALL SAINTS.


2007  

Milk Crate is funded by The Australia Council for the Arts.  

Three Critical Stages’ tours visit more than 40 NSW towns.

MONKEY SHINES (pictured) is picked up by the Sydney Opera House.

2008

Darlinghurst Theatre Company wins the Best of Sydney award for 'Best Fringe Theatre'.


2009

Critical Stages sets a record with a 23 week tour of THE KURSK through 6 states. It also tours DEALER’S CHOICE (pictured) for 20 weeks around the country.  Find our more about THE KURSK and DEALER'S CHOICE on the Critical Stages website.

Darlo Drama runs its 240th class. 


 

Milk Crate Theatre celebrates its 10th Birthday.
