It's A Wrap...David Williamson's Don's Party
On the night of the 1969 federal election Don Henderson invites a small group of friends to celebrate a predicted ALP election victory, much to the dismay of his wife. To the party come Mal, Don’s university mentor, and his bitter wife Jenny, sex-obsessed Cooley and his latest girlfriend, nineteen-year-old Susan, Evan and his beautiful artist wife Kerry. Somehow, two Liberal supporters, Simon and Jody also come. As the party wears on it becomes clear that Labor, who are supported by Don and most of the guests, are not winning. As a result the drinking goes up a few notches, and the sniping between Don and his male friends about their failed aspirations gets uglier, as does their behaviour toward the women. Mack, a design engineer whose wife has just left him, pulls out a nude photo of her for his friends' approval. Crass womaniser Cooley pursues the available women. The disillusioned wives exchange tales of their husbands' subpar sexual performance. By the end of the night, Don and some of his friends have begun to grasp the emptiness of their compromised lives.

Darlo Drama to become 'Eternal'!

It's now official! The long collaboration between DARLO DRAMA & DARLINGHURST THEATRE COMPANY (DTC) will continue to remain strong when we move with them to the new ETERNITY PLAYHOUSE in 2013. Darlo Drama members & students will benefit enormously & have the opportunity to perform in what will be the best 200 seat, state of the art theatre in Australia. All Darlo Drama student shows and performances will be on the new stage…very exciting! The Eternity Playhouse is a unique and extraordinary opportunity for our members and students as no other drama school in Sydney will have such a beautiful & historic space to perform in!

The City of Sydney is renovating the 132 year old heritage listed Burton Street Tabernacle in Darlinghurst to create a state of the art 200 seat theatre. DTC will be the managing company & all Darlo Drama performances will be held there from next year.

The Eternity Playhouse will preserve DTC’s trademark welcoming & intimate atmosphere. Its planned continental style theatre seating & its beautiful foyer with new wine bar & café/restaurant will enhance the experience of audiences coming to see your performances.

The restoration of the  intricate wooden ceiling uncovered during roof repair & stained glass windows will be a permanent tribute to Arthur Stace who chalked ‘Eternity’ on Sydney’s footpaths for over 30 years after hearing a sermon there.  Construction commenced in October 2011 & it is set to open in January 2013.

DTC is responsible for the funding and installation of the sound and lighting equipment plus the foyer, kitchen & bar equipment - vital to the success of the Eternity Playhouse - & they’ll be inviting people to contribute to their fundraising campaign in May 2012. DTC will donate the current theatre’s fit-out to the City of Sydney.
