Miss Julie is a battleground of power, sexuality, identity and desire.

In a new re-imagination of this classic play for Darlinghurst Theatre Company, Strindberg's infamous 'modern woman' claws at the strangle hold of her author. She is a woman exploding out of her century, raging against the impositions of class, gender and the damage of her upbringing.

Originally set on the eve of midsummer 1888 on the estate of a Swedish Count, Miss Julie, the Counts daughter, Jean the valet and the cook Kristin enter a dangerous irreversible game. Boundaries are crossed, rules are broken and the impossible is explored.
